Making Art With Fire
I wanted to create a piece that uses fire to “renew and redefine” instead of damage.

The artist on her process:
“I first sketched the draft on my iPad to understand how I wanted everything to be arranged, and then I painted the draft on a stone board, because using a stone board can prevent the painting from completely burning. The second layer of the artwork is the “forests” part. I used a window screen and sewed flammable materials on it to make a collage.”
The artist on her purpose:
I always thought forest fires could be damaging to forests until I researched and discovered they can be a way for the forest to renew. The idea of burning away for renewal and rebirth attracts me. For painting or artworks, fire is also thought to be impairing. I wanted to create a piece that uses fire to “renew and redefine” instead of damage.
